Welcoming 2014

Many of us set goals for each new year – some succeed, others do not. Here’s my attempt to start a blog that will share aspects of my personal life, professional life and give you my perspective on everything that’s going on in my life. I’ve found that I’ve tried to start a journal here and there, but putting it up on a blog will keep me more accountable and hopefully the readers will be entertained along the way.

Luckily, last 2013 was a great year and a number of major events transpired. The best of which was getting hitched to my beautiful wife Betty in August. After 8 years of dating, we finally did it! The venue was amazing, the weather was perfect, and everything went without a hitch.Betty + Andrew Wedding - August 17, 2013

Reflecting on 2013, other notable milestones were Graduating from SCU with my MBA, spending my first year as Director of Online Marketing at Inflection, watching my dog Bleu turn 1 as well as continuing to kindle strong friendships and strengthening relationships with my family (including the new in-laws).

Here’s a cute picture of Bleu for no good reason:

One of the focuses for this blog will be travel. Last year I was lucky enough to have seen:

  • Zion National Park (in Utah)
  • Antelope Canyon (in AZ)
  • Visit Las Vegas, NV several times
  • Honeymoon in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora
  • Death Valley

And throughout the year, I’ll be reflecting on these travels in which I keep a Travel Journal for. As one of my goals for 2014, Betty and I have decided to travel to at least 2 new domestic locations and 1 new international location. Some ideas include an Asia trip (Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Japan), Europe (probably Spain), and Machu Picchu, Peru. Domestically, we haven’t put much thought into it, but we will be traveling to LA, Idaho and Colorado for some weddings this year, so that sounds like a good list to start with!

Finally, I hope to maintain my fitness in 2014 (because I always get sick) by achieving a Cycling Goal of 3,500+ miles while hitting the gym at least once a week. I missed the mark last year due to 6 weeks of illness late in Q4, so I gotta get off my butt and crush it this year!

Here’s what I have to beat in 2014.

That’s all for now… Onward to an amazing 2014!

…and one of my favorite quotes of all time.

“Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
